Within the first few hundred days of his presidency FDR took on the challenge of the Great Depression & under his leadership congress passed landmark legislation, including the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), and many such as the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), the Civil Works Administration, later called Work Progress Administration or WPA plus numerous other programs broadly referred to as the New Deal. The South and especially the Tennessee Valley area were forever altered because of his bold & courageous leadership.
